Words from the heart...

Tarot tuesday- Ten of Vessels, Happiness

Picture
Happiness... Was I surprised to see this card today? Yes, yes I was. Let's be honest... collectively, there seems to be more doom and gloom in the news each day. I won't bother listing it all. We know. The heaviness we're feeling is real. As is the grief.
.
I took some time to reflect on this sentiment- happiness. Oftentimes when we're grieving, it is because we have lost something or someone that was precious to us, that brought us happiness. We feel that void and wonder if we will ever feel happiness again.
.
We must move forward, though. We honor those that have passed, those that have exited our lives, those jobs or meaningful experiences that are over by carrying on. By distilling the good stuff and continuing to cultivate it and evolve as our next chapters beckon.
.
Happiness is an inside job. How can you reinvigorate your relationship to happiness, to joy in this next week? How can you embrace the emotional freedom that comes from the outpouring of love, lying dormant deep inside your chest eager for an outlet? Let the tears flow if needed. How can you "move the way love makes you move, the way joy makes you move" as Osho says...
.
There is a real opportunity to turn the tides here. Happiness is a choice. We can choose to focus on the grief, on what has passed or is passing. We can choose to wallow, to replay the challenges, or we can choose to be present and gaze forward. To embrace the opportunity for freedom from the emotional ties that bind us.
.
I love you and I'm here for you. Each of us in needed at this time. We all have unique gifts to offer this evolving world. In order to find our gifts and work towards their highest expression, we must identify and clear the obstacles on our paths. The Joyful Rebellion Zine and Flower Essence are available on my Offerings page. Also, links to schedule Energy Work and Coaching Sessions.
.

Much love,
Abby

Tarot Tuesday- The Ancestor

The Ancestor beats their drum, calling us home to the Wild, home to the truth buried deep in our bones, the truth of the ones who came before.

Your Ancestors call to you. Remember them, where they came from, what they came through that you might be here today. What are some of the ways you connect with your Ancestors? Through food, stories, songs, perhaps. Through meditation or prayer. If this is new for you, how might you engage?

This work is sacred. It can be beautiful and gut wrenching. It takes time. Effort. Commitment. Go easy. Be steady. Your Ancestors are here to support you, to guide you.

By doing this work of honoring and reconciling the truth of your Ancestors, you can break the cycles of Oppressor and Oppressed within you and your blood line, healing generations. This is how we evolve, both individually and collectively.

Further, take time to get to know the Ancestors of the land you live on. Who are they? How did they live and love? Honor them by remembering them. Find a place in Nature and introduce yourself. Tell them where you came from, where your Ancestors came from. Ask permission to be there. Listen to what comes through. Offer tobacco and gratitude.

This is just a step in a life long journey of reconnecting with yourself and Nature. Treat it with reverence, with love and joy.

Much love,

Tarot Tuesday- King of Stones, Wolf

5/19/2020

Picture
What's more instinctual than a wolf howling at the moon? The King of Stones invites us into great appreciation for the Wild this week, the Wild within and without. Embrace your Wild nature. Focus your gratitude on your connection to Nature. True wealth emanates from right relation with Mother Earth.

For some, The howl may also speak to the need for grieving, really digging deep and allowing ourselves to mourn what has passed or is passing. Feel into the sorrow, with gratitude for what was, then when you're ready... release! Letting out a loud, guttural howl... owwwwoooo!

Gratitude and grief go hand in hand. Someone once said that Grief is love with no where to go. Gratitude for what was acts as a balm, gently soothing the pain of loss. Mother Nature lovingly provides comfort in simple ways. Perhaps a long walk, being present with all around you would support you at this time. Notice the drops of fresh rain lingering on leaves. The way the sunlight peeks through the trees. The symphony of flowers rising, budding, blooming, then fading back. So much beauty to behold. Let the beauty consume you. Let it fill your pores. Then release. Smile.

Remembering that we, as humans, are a part of Nature. Our wildness is innate. The dis-ease and discomfort we often feel is a result of the disconnection modern society indoctrinated us with. We long to return home, to nature. And we are welcomed, in each instance, with open arms.

This week, in some way small or large, I encourage you to court the connection, the relationship you have with Nature. Presence is perhaps the simplest way to begin.

Energy Journeys and Transformational Coaching sessions are available to support you in remembering your wild nature. Visit www.calendly.com/onebeatingheart to schedule your session.

More offerings coming soon...

Tuesday Tarot- 7 of Bows, Clearance

5/12/2020

Spring cleaning of our collective spaces, of our collective psyche. Questions to consider at this time are: What do we wish to take with us moving forward in to the new world, the new Earth birthing? What must we release? What must we clear out to make way? The timing for cleansing and clearing of our bodies, spaces, hearts and minds is now if we are to be intentional about how we move forward.

7's represent an in between space, a not quite there yet space. A time to be actively doing work towards what you wish to see. The suit of Bows in the The Wildwood Tarot represent Fire- creativity, action. The 7 of Bows brings the message of an opportune time for clearing this week. An opportune time to take steps towards the changes we wish to see on a large scale by clearing out what no longer serves us in our lives.

For some, this could mean doing a cleanse of your internal space. Perhaps drinking hot lemon water each morning before food or coffee and meditating on your power center, your will center- Manipurna Chakra (Solar Plexus) will support you. Others may consider going through a room in their house or work space and getting rid of what they no longer use or things that carry heavy emotional weight.

For those wanting to go deeper, here's a Ritual Suggestion:
If you are feeling the need to release an attachment to patterns of thinking that no longer serve, or limiting beliefs you have, I invite you to write it all down on paper. Then, make a fire (only if you are able to safely. If making a fire isn't possible you could burn the paper using a lighter or match near water/over a fire proof container) and burn the paper, releasing the thought patterns or limiting beliefs with love and gratitude. Spend some time afterwards journaling on what new thought patterns or beliefs you wish to cultivate each day. Consider action steps you can take.

Whatever you decide, the key to creating space for what we want to arrive is by through the clearance of what no longer serves. This is your invitation to take action in some small or large way this week.

"Times, they are a changing"

1/28/2020

We live in potent times. So much changes so rapidly it can be challenging to remain grounded. Often we can sense when something is off. When someone we love is suddenly distant or unavailable. When we’re not feeling the same connection or passion for the work we do. When unexpected news renders us in shock…

Sometimes we sense it, sometimes it catches us off guard. Suddenly, there we are. Facing a big change, a big transition. There’s a part of us that wants to hold on to what is passing. We want to pull a loved one closer, we work harder to be seen or appreciated at our job, or perhaps we do more to show someone we care- we praise them, try to spend more time with them, shower them with gifts all in an effort to hold on. Maybe we bend over backwards to accommodate their busy schedule.

In contrast, sometimes we run away, make ourselves unavailable. Sometimes we become busy, avoid conversations and social situations where we might encounter someone. Become indifferent at our jobs, try to numb the pain and discomfort with food, alcohol, sex, drugs, internet browsing. Sometimes we hermit ourselves away. Thinking that we can somehow avoid what we don’t want to see or accept.

No matter which way you tend towards, the way of love and conscious relation is the middle way. To honor the truth that is bubbling into your awareness. To honor the changes that are necessary to grow in a good way. Honor the love that is felt on both sides, hence the discomfort at the possibility that something known is ending. To stay present during the uncomfortable hang outs, the difficult conversations. To speak your truth and not fall into trying to please the other or running away. To take responsibility for your self, your role and, ultimately, your journey.

Just because the way things currently are is ending, doesn’t mean they may not evolve in some form. They might. But we don’t get the comfort of knowing that during the in between phases. All we can know is that we love and care for the relationship that is passing, changing or evolving. And we don’t know how things will look moving forward. We just have to trust our hearts and the guidance we are tuned into that the choice we’re making is in alignment with our highest truth. That the road laid before us is meant to help us evolve into the next stage of life. Even if it’s terribly painful. The only way out is through. Through the discomfort of the current awareness, through the taking of responsibility, through the leaning into our heart's truth.

With gratitude always, for the Great unfolding Mystery. For the road…

*Editors note- I wrote this post almost a year ago and was amazed to find the medicine rings true in this moment, too.

Honoring the journey, bringing forth the medicine...

11/21/2019

In the last week, I was having a phone conversation with my mentor, Daisy Marquis. In that conversation, I shared eagerly how excited I was to see that many of the things I was working on we're all steering me in the same direction- Root Chakra work. In Energy sessions I had been doing with others for the previous month, root work kept coming up. The need to root in our relationship to Mother Earth. To look to her for our sense of stability and security, amidst the swirling chaos of these times. To root, in order to birth, the gifts we are here to share.

Interestingly enough, at 4 Elements Earth Education, where I am an Instructor and Program Coordinator, we have also been working on various ways of Sheltering ourselves. Our program curriculum is based around the Sacred Order of Survival- Shelter, Water, Fire, Food. In this season, of cooling temperatures and (typically) rain, its a ripe time to practice our skills of Shelter, whether through building debris shelter, in the style of Grandfather Stalking Wolf, or considering what layers of clothing we choose to wear during the change of seasons. There are many lessons to be learned.

In addition, I have been apprenticing with the medicine of the Apple Tree, one of my beloved plant friends. Apple Tree's message has been of recognizing the importance of consistent routine to create stability in our lives, and that this stability allows us to grow as witnesses of our emotions, patterns and triggers, so we might heal and move through life differently.

Bringing it all together, the medicine of the work I'm here to do- Energy healing, Nature Connection and Plant Medicine. All of these modalities were guiding me to the Root, my connection to Mother Earth, to the divine within myself and the stability to be found in grounding in my truth, as outside influences continued to be in flux.

For many years I had lived in "survival mode." This appeared in many ways. Sometimes I literally did not have a stable living situation, whether due to moving across country, dealing with trauma, or by personal choice. Other times, it was in how I related to others or to what was possible for me. I was always looking for the next thing somewhere else or waiting for the proverbial "other shoe to drop," recognizing the patterns of when (x) happens, (x) usually follows, which means I need to start looking for the next... fill in the blank- (job, housing situation, location, etc.). I was in a reactive place, as a result of unresolved trauma that had occurred in my life. I needed healing, I needed community, I needed to feel safe, I needed to ground. I needed to find the home that existed all along, within myself.

Until I was able to recognize this, I kept repeating the cycles, not knowing any other way. It wasn't until I finally had enough of my own shit and realized that while what happened to me wasn't my fault, healing it was my responsibility, that a shift occurred. The people who showed up in my life began to change. The situations I found myself in began to change. I met some wonderful friends who supported me as I healed. I found, or as I like to view it, remembered, ways that resonated deeply with my heart. Old ways of connecting with Mother Earth. Healing modalities that supported my process of coming home to myself. Relationships that supported my tender heart in lovingly peeling away the layers I had built up to protect myself from a harsh world.

And now, years later, as I find myself weaving these ways together to be of support to others in their journeys home, to themselves and Mother Earth, I continue to witness the deeper layers of work available to me as my commitment to myself and my relationship to nature grows. Energy work provides subtle awareness. Nature Connection provides practical tools. Plant Medicine provides the consistent support to nurture the deeper changes.

These my are ways of supporting you. These are the gifts I offer. In service and in love.
